The will of William Swancott
William Swancott died in the Autumn of 1804. His will was written on 23 August, 1804, and probated on 10 October of that year. His wife, Elizabeth, was alive when the will was written.This is an interpretation of a photocopy of the will as copied into the record book and as filmed by the LDS on film number 104436, #275.

The will of William Swancott
proved by Samuel Swancott Inv. 270.5.0In the name of God amen I William Swancott of the Parish of Llanbadarn-fynydd in the County of Radnor, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and understanding, praised be Almighty God and calling to remembrance the uncertainty of this transitory life, do this twenty-third day of August in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and four, make publish and ordain this my last will and testament in a manner and form following. First my wi1l and desire, that my Debts, Legacies and Funeral expenses be paid and my body decently buried at the Discretion of my executor herein after named. I also give and bequeath to my loving wife Elizabeth Swancott the sum of seven pounds yearly and every year during the Term of her Natural (1ife?) to be paid her quarter1y at four equal installments in the year by my Executor hereinafter named. I also give her one large spinning wheel and one small wheel, her own bed and everything belonging to it, a small Iron pot and a Brass kettle. I also give and bequeath to my son William Swancott the sum of twenty pounds. I also give and bequeath to my son John Swancott the sum of twenty pounds. I also give and bequeath to my son Phillip Swancott the sum of Forty Pounds who is now in his Majesty's Service and in case he shall not return alive then this legacy shall be equally divided between my surviving Childrens. I also give and bequeath to my son David Swancott the sum of one guinea. I also give and bequeath to my (son?) Benjamin Swancott one guinea. I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth wife of Edward Ward the sum of one guinea. The above legacies shall be paid at the end of Eighteen moths after my decease. I also give and bequeath to Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Ward the sum of one guinea. I also give and bequeath to my Grandson William Swancott the sum of three guineas. I also give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Elizabeth Swancott the sum of one guinea. These three last legacies to be paid them when they respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years. I also give and bequeath unto my son David Swancott, Phi11ip Swancott Benjamin Swancott and Elizabeth Ward Five Pounds each to be paid them eighteen months after the Decease of my wife Elizabeth Swancott. if they shall then be living by my Executor hereinafter Named. I also give my lime cart to be used between Benjamin and Samuel Swancott and they are to be at equal charge in keeping the said cart in repair. And as to the rest and residue and remainder of all my goods and chattels - cattle, horses, pigs , poultry, furniture, household goods, personal estate and effects, sheep. implements of husbandry all and singular of what Nature or kind soever I am possessed of at my Decease I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Swancott whom I Constitute, Nominate make and appoi nt to be sole Executor of this my 1ast wi11 and testament forever revoking Disclaiming and Disannulling all former wills and Testaments by me heretofore made.
